چکیده

In this study, the monotonic and cyclic behavior of an offshore wind turbine with a monopile foundation installed in sand layer were evaluated centrifuge. A simplified was modeled, lateral load applied to tower under displacement control. The loading test ultimate capacity bending moment profiles different levels. During loading, variations moment-rotation responses, stiffness, moments along pile observed. initial rotational stiffness decreased as level increased. fatigue limit state (FLS) service (SLS) conditions, no noticeable variation observed number cycles. However, (ULS), increased during first few cycles, followed by decreasing rate increase, reached certain value. had weakening effect on monopile–soil interaction, which supported induced monopile.

The Effect of Lateral Loading Parameters on Monopile Behavior Based on Physical Modeling

Monopiles are the most common type of foundation for offshore wind turbines (OWT). Monopiles have been used in more than 80% of the offshore wind turbines. A monopile will be affected by millions of lateral load cycles during the operating period, which will cause its rotation and lateral deformation. The rotation and the deformation are dependent on the soil properties, monopile specification,...

Soil-Structure Interaction of Buried Pipes Under Cyclic Loading Conditions

The safety of lifelines, as the most important urban facilities, under different conditions highly depends on the safe design and performance of these buried structures. This cannot be achieved unless their actual behaviors are well understood and considered at the designing stage. A new physical model was developed in Amirkabir University of Technology to study the behavior of buried pipes und...

The Turbulent Wake of a Monopile Foundation

An experimental programme is presented, examining the turbulent wake of a monopile foundation in a current. Velocity was recorded across an extensive domain downstream of a model monopile in a 0.5 m deep basin, using an acoustic Doppler velocimeter array. The distribution of turbulent kinetic energy (TKE) is examined across the entire domain. Tests were undertaken using several combinations of ...

Experimental Evaluation of Performance Criteria for Reinforced Concrete Beams under Cyclic Loading

To assess the performance criteria of the reinforced-concrete, five-storey residential buildings common in Iran, an &#10experimental study in the structural laboratory of the University of Tehran has been conducted. The test program includes cyclic and monotonic load tests of six beams that represent three-to-five storey buildings with rigid frame structures. Using definitions given in FEMA-356...
